At least 35 people were killed when a multi-storey building under construction collapsed near the Indian city of Mumbai, police said Friday according to dpa. Fire and police teams rescued over 40 people from the debris of the building that collapsed in the Thane area on the outskirts of the western coastal city late Thursday. Thirteen children, 11 men and 11 women were killed and more people could be trapped under the rubble, local police inspector DigambarJangle said. Many of the victims were migrant labourers. Police said 59 injured people were being treated at local hospitals.
