A mudslide caused by heavy rain buried 28 people Tuesday at an iron mine in China's far western region of Xinjiang. Rescuers recovered seven bodies and were using excavators and sniffer dogs to search for 21 people still missing in thousands of cubic metres of mud and debris, state media said. The mud and debris covered an area about 500 metres long and 60 metres wide with the mud up to 6 metres deep, local officials told the official Xinhua news agency.
