Two local officials were killed on Tuesday in a bomb attack in a town north of the capital Baghdad, police said. According to dpa, Iraqi news site Alsumaria News said that one of the dead in Tuz Khurmato, 170 kilometers north of Baghdad, was a leading member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, the party of President Jalal Talabani. In Kirkuk, another disputed city 250 kilometers north of Baghdad, three bodyguards of a senior Kurdish security official were injured in an apparent assassination attempt, Kurdish security forces said.
