At least eight children were killed and four others injured in Bangladesh on Saturday, after a speeding truck collided with the three-wheel van carrying the students home from school, dpa reported. Seven children died on the scene of the accident in Comilla district, some 110 kilometres south-east of the Dhaka, district police chief Mahbubur Rahman said. Another child died after being taken to hospital, he said. Reckless driving by the truck's driver was to blame for the deaths of the students aged between 5 and 8, said police officer Zahirul Anwar. He said the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident and that police were trying to locate him. At least 42 children died on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in mid-2011 when a truck carrying students home from a football match skidded off the road.
