Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of Arab Gulf Programme for Human Development (AGFUND) arrived here last night to patronize on Wednesday the ceremony of AGFUND International Award for Development and to announce the subject of the award for 2013 in the presence of Philippine Vice President Jejomar C. Binay. The Prince will chair later today a meeting of the Award Committee to review the projects that have achieved the best results in the branches of the award. The Prince will honor the winning developmental projects in the fields of development of remote communities and rural areas through information and communication technology and youth empowerment via initiatives and career opportunities. AGFUND has allocated an amount of 500,000 U.S. dollars for the winners of the Award. Since its inception in 1999 AD, as many as 1,602 projects from 130 countries have been nominated for the award which has covered 25 developmental topics in the areas of combating poverty, water, environment, rural development, health, education, training, early childhood development, fight against negative phenomena, development of agriculture, and youth empowerment.
