Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average surged 2.4 per cent on Monday as market sentiment was bolstered by reports that the government would nominate Asian Development Bank president Haruhiko Kuroda as the next governor of the country's central bank. The Nikkei gained 276.58 points, or 2.43 per cent, to end at 11,662.52 while the broader-based Topix index was up 17.22 points, or 1.79 per cent, at 980.7, according to a report of DPA.
