Japanese shares rose 1 per cent Tuesday, bolstered by gains in other Asian markets after a rise in the Chinese consumer price index was in line with expectations. The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average gained 99.58 points, or 1.05 per cent, to close at 9,547.79. The broader-based Topix index was up 10.6 points, or 1.31 per cent, at 822.86, DPA reported. Tokyo stocks jumped in the afternoon, buoyed by gains in other Asian markets. At 2:11 pm (0611 GMT)the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index was up 1.11 per cent, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index had risen 0.41 per cent.
