The death toll in the twin blasts from bombs planted on bicycles in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad has risen to 16, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said Friday. According to dpa, the death toll rose from 12 overnight. The blasts injured 117 people. Local television Friday showed forensic experts combing the debris in the Dilsukhnagar area of Hyderabad amid crowds of onlookers. A man has been detained and witnesses were being questioned, NDTV news channel reported, citing police sources. Most of the injured suffered shrapnel wounds, and at least five were on life support systems, doctors at Hyderabad's Care Hospital were quoted as saying.
