Spain's Foreign Minister José Manuel Garcia-Margallo met recently in Madrid Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar, the Secretary General of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue. During the meeting, Bin Muammar expressed his thanks to the Government of Spain for its support and assistance in the establishment of the center in partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Austria and for the facilities provided in support of the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for global dialogue among followers of religions and cultures. For his part, the Spanish Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the roles of the Center, which aims to help the containment of conflicts based on religious and cultural foundations, and building of global understandings and partnerships based on tolerance, cooperation, security and peace, noting that the signing of the agreement on the establishment of the Center in Vienna on 13 October 2011 contributed positively to the enhancement of cooperation and bilateral partnership between Saudi Arabia and Spain. He praised the important and fundamental tasks carried out by the Center in spreading the culture of coexistence between peoples, fighting extremism and assisting in promoting dialogue, promoting respect and cooperation among nations, as well as mutual understanding on humanitarian issues. He also expressed the Spanish Ministry's readiness to provide support and assistance for the success of the Center.
