Saudi newspapers' editorials highlighted today a number of current issues. Al-Bilad newspaper focused on continuing preparations in Madinah city to celebrate it as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2013. The newspaper considered these preparations as a sign of great awareness among those who are responsible for the festivities and hailed the occasion's activities and programs that will be hosted by Madinah city for one full year. Al-Madinah newspaper commented on the current events in Egypt, noting that two years after the outbreak of the Egyptian revolution, squares of Egypt are still full of protests and demonstrations. The newspaper added that the people are divided into two camps - at least, an indicator of concern, especially after the violence in many Egyptian cities yesterday and the day before yesterday on the second anniversary of the Revolution of January. Al-Yaum newspaper regretted the political turmoil between the new government and the opposition in Egypt, the chaos in Libya, the occasional flare-ups in Tunisia and the instability in Yemen. The newspaper added that the desired democracy in the countries of the Arab Spring is elusive because everyone deals with the situation in terms of profit and loss. --More
