Watan newspaper mentioned Russian support for Al-Assad regime to maintain its interests at the expense of the Syrian people and said that Russia's interests include the sole Russian military base in Tartous in the region; the fall of the regime of Bashar Al-Assad means decline in sales of Russian weapons; and the spread of the missile shield of NATO in Europe means cutting the road in the future on Russia toward the Middle East, which eliminates any Russian strategic presence in region. Al-Youm newspapers commented on news about the situation in Syria saying the news constitutes alarming proportions of the Syrian crisis and graveness of the situation and its complexities. Al-Madinah newspaper wrote about the events in northern Mali, noting that Al-Qaeda terrorist organization began moving to Africa and that the military mission of France in Mali may take a long time, which requires a unified international stance and international cooperation to rescue Mali from becoming a failed state.
