Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local and regional arenas led by the Reconstitution of Majlis Al-Shura through two royal decrees. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz issued the royal decrees to re-constitute Majlis Al-Shura for a new four-year term and ordered that women should hold at least 20 percent of the seats. Al-Madinah, Al-Riyadh and Al-Bilad newspapers highlighted the amendments of some articles of the regulation of Majlis Al-Shura, especially concerning the participation of women. The newspapers highlighted the amendments praising the participation of women by a percentage not less than 20%. The newspapers affirmed that Saudi women's participation in Majlis Al-Shura underlines Saudi leaders' support for women and their keenness on women's rights in line with Islam. The newspapers said that this move will help women contribute positively and constructively for the building of the nation and ensuring its continual progress, prosperity and development under the Kingdom's wise leadership. The newspapers said that this step of amending some articles of Majlis Al-Shura comes in line with developments and meets their requirements and that it is necessary. --More
