Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information for Media Affairs, Dr. Riad Kamal Negm said that the Ministry has taken a number of measures to develop the work of the media organs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and enable them to compete. In a working paper he presented to the meeting of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) General Assembly held here today, Dr. Negm also made clear that the ministry proceeded to restructure this sector to raise the efficiency of the public media organs and make them more competitive, create an attractive environment for investment in the field of audio and visual media, resettle the Saudi private media in the kingdom, and to establish private media in line with the values and customs of the Saudi society. He added that the restructuring process included a series of steps, topped by the transformation of government radio and television channels into a public corporation and the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) into a public corporation as well as the establishment of a corporation to regulate the audio-visual media.
