The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the ministry of culture and information, will host in Jeddah on Jan 7-12, 2009 under the patronage of minister of culture and information Iyad Madani the 28th session of the general assembly of the Arab Sates Broadcasting Union (ASBU) and the 80th meeting for the ASBU's executive council. Introducing the directory of the meetings, Iyad Madani said on the fringes of the meetings, important meetings will be held between ASBU and its partners from the international unions and organizations. He noted that the program of the meetings of the general assembly includes sessions on the role of the media in enhancing dialogue among the followers of religions and the role of the media in the coverage of events in the Arab region. Madani pointed out that the audio-visual media has become an element of a great influence in the political and economic affairs as well as on other affairs of life. --more
