Diplomats accredited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have expressed their admiration for Madain Saleh in Ola Governorate in Madinah Region. They commended the efforts of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in preserving heritage and antiquities, stressing that what they have seen of antiquities and heritage reflects the depth of civilization in the Arabian Peninsula. Their statements came following a visit organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently to Madain Saleh for a diplomatic delegation comprising more than 100 Ambassadors, Charge's D'affaires and Consuls accredited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In its report on Madain Saleh, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that Madain Saleh was registered as the first Saudi site on World Heritage List of United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2008 AD. Madain Saleh site is located 22 kilometers, northeast of Ola Governorate of Madinah region at latitudes 47-26 north and longitudes 53-37 east. The site contains large numbers of inscriptions and paintings dated before 1700 Gregorian years, as well as more than more 131 huge graves carved in rocks, in addition to palaces and halls.
