On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdulah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, took part in the opening ceremony of the 18th Meeting of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Agreement for Climate Change which was opened in the Qatari capital of Doha by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, earlier today. Al-Naimi arrived in Doha last night to lead his country's delegation to the conference which will last from December 4 -7 , 2012. The Saudi delegation is scheduled to take part in the talks ongoing on the Framework Agreement on climate change and present papers dealing with Saudi Arabia's accomplishments in the field of combating the phenomenon of greenhouse effect. Earlier today, Al-Naimi held a number of separate meetings on the sidelines of the conference. They were with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and the U.S. special envoy on climate change Todd Stern. The meetings were attended by Saudi Arabia's delegation including the Director General of the UN Commission at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Adnan Baghdadi; Advisor at the Minister's Office Khalid Abullif; Advisor to the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Dr. Ibrahim Al-Mahanna and Director General of the Minister's Special Office Ali Al-Tuwairqi.
