AlHijjah 22, 1433, Nov 7, 2012, SPA - A suicide bomber on foot killed a senior police officer and at least five other people at a crowded market in north-western Pakistan on Wednesday, officials said. Hilal Haider, one of Peshawar city's chief investigators, was en route to his office in Qissa Khawani Bazaar when the attacker detonated up to eight kilograms of explosives next to his car. "The explosion killed Haider, his driver and a guard as well as a passerby at the scene," Peshawar's district administrative chief Javed Marwat said. About three dozen wounded people were taken to a local hospital, where at least two succumbed to injuries. "Eight of the victims are in critical condition," hospital chief administrator Mukhtar Ahmad said, amid fears that the death toll could rise, according to a report of DPA.
