AlHijjah 5, 1433, Oct 21, 2012, SPA -- Civil Defense units successfully rescued 179 pilgrims engulfed by a fire and smoke at the fourth floor of a nine-storey building, along Ibrahim Al-Khalil Street in Makkah, officials said, adding that 13 pilgrims sustained minor injuries and were treated on the spot. Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al-Orabi Al-Harthi, Media Spokesman of the Civil Defense Authority, said the fire broke out at 19:09 this evening. Ten fire multi-mission squads controlled the fire in the limits of one room and evacuated the rest of pilgrims from the Burmese and Indian nationalities. The authorities opened investigation into the incident.
