MAKKAH: 108 pilgrims from Malaysia were evacuated from a hotel in Makkah's Al-Aziziya district Friday after a blaze caused by a short circuit in an air-conditioning unit broke out in a guest room. A spokesman for the Civil Defense in Jeddah said that five teams of firefighters contained the fire and prevented it spreading. Medics attended to two guests suffering from smoke inhalation. The spokesman also said that a second minor fire occurred the same day in the Al-Gaza district. “50 pilgrims were evacuated from the building and the situation was swiftly brought under control,” he said.
