AlQa'dah 29, 1433, Oct 15, 2012, SPA - Hundreds of Taliban fighters attacked a checkpoint in north-western Pakistan overnight, killing at least six and wounding 11, officials said Monday. Up to 300 rebels raided the post in the town of Mattani, about 25 kilometres south of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, police spokesman Jalaluddin Khan said, according to DPA. "Initial exchanges of fire turned into a fierce battle that lasted for two to three hours," Khan said. "Six security personnel, including a senior police officer and a paramilitary soldier, were killed and another 11 suffered injuries."
