AlQa'dah 10, 1433, Sep 26, 2012, SPA -- Tropical Storm Nadine could strengthen in the Atlantic Ocean over the next few days, while in the Pacific, Tropical Storm Miriam is expected to lose some intensity, U.S. weather forecasters said Wednesday. Nadine, with maximum sustained winds of 72 kilometers per hour (kph), was about 850 kilometers south-southwest of the Azores Islands, moving on a south-southwesterly track at 8 kph, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami said in its morning advisory. Nadine, whose tropical storm-force winds extended up to 185 kilometers from its center, could intensify in the next 48 hours and was expected to shift toward the southwest or west by late Thursday, the NHC said. In the Pacific Ocean, Miriam, with maximum sustained winds nearly 115 kph, was about 690 kilometers west-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, traveling northwest at 10 kph. Miriam, whose tropical storm-force winds extended outward from center up to 170 kilometers, was expected to weaken in the next few days, forecasters said. Waves generated by the storm will affect the southern and western coasts of southern and central Baja California for the next few days, likely causing dangerous currents, the NHC warned.
