AlQa'dah 9, 1433, Sep 25, 2012, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the production of an anti-Islam film produced in the United States which mocked Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and at the same time condemned acts of violence against American diplomats on the basis of the inviolability of embassies and diplomats both by Islam and international instruments. This came in a speech delivered by Saudi Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva Dr. Abdulwahab Attar before the Human Rights Council which held a general debate on racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related forms of intolerance. Dr. Attar highlighted the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for dialogue among followers of religions and cultures which was adopted by Madrid Conference on Dialogue 2008. The initiative principally calls for prohibiting defamation of religions and their symbols. Hateful attacks on religious symbols could not be condoned on the basis of freedom of expression, Attar stated. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called on Muslims around the world to show self-restraint and refrain from acts of violence. Dialogue among faiths and cultures was crucial in order to combat racism and intolerance, Dr. Attar said.
