AlQa'dah 2, 1433, Sep 18, 2012, SPA - The International Symposium on Religion and Peace Achievement in ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) resumed its works here today in the presence of the Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul- Mohsen Al-Turki. The symposium is co-sponsored by the MWL and the Council of Interfaith Cooperation for Peace in Thailand. The symposium organized two sessions and five workshops. The participants of the first session focused on means of promoting dialogue among followers of religions and bolstering cooperation to resolve conflict and peace-building in ASEAN countries. It also addressed the role of the civilizations of the conflict to the Alliance and civilizational dialogue and the establishment of positive co-existence and the role of religious values ??in dealing with conflicts and the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for dialogue and its role in promoting a culture of peace. The second session discussed human relations in multi-religious societies and the development of peaceful co-existence between cultures and the foundations of co-existence and its components. Meanwhile, the workshops addressed the culture of peace in the academic institutions in ASEAN countries, in addition to the exchange of experiences in the management of conflicts with the religious dimension, modernity and harmony between ethnic and religious communities and conflict and the role of religions, including a case study of Thailand and ASEAN countries and the role of religions in building human civilization.
