Fire Rages in Upper Michigan

A massive fire in northern Michigan has consumed over 22,000 acres and is only half contained, State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) authorities said Tuesday.
The Duck Lake Fire, located on Michigan's Upper Peninsula in Luce County, the state's least populated county, is burning 14 miles northeast of the town of Newberry, UPI reported.
Dean Wilson of the DNR said that property damage is still being assessed, but 95 structures have been lost, including 34 homes or cottages, 22 garages, 20 sheds or outbuildings, 17 campers, one store and a motel.
DNR crews have reported difficulty securing the southeast section of the fire due to less accessibility to the area.
