In a press statement following the opening of the 22nd meeting of GCC Ministerial Committee for Planning and Development this morning at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Riyadh, Minister of Economy and Planning, Dr. Mohammed bin Suleiman Al-Jasser said that the periodic meeting of the committee discussed all issues related to population policy, addressing the imbalances in the labor market and the establishment of the Statistics center of the GCC countries. Dr. Al-Jasser said the topics discussed today by the Ministerial Committee, are part of the GCC common efforts to move forward from the current stage of cooperation to the stage of union. Dr. Al-Jasser said that the establishment of the statistical center of the GCC countries is among the most important issues that were taken up for an in-depth review by the Ministerial Committee. Other topics of prime concern to the Ministerial Committee were issues related to the labor market and the impact of expatriate labor on the economies of member countries, he added.
