The Ministers of Economy and Planning of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States held here today their 22nd meeting of GCC Ministerial Committee for Planning and Development under the chairmanship of the Minister of Economy and Planning, Dr. Mohammed bin Suleiman Al-Jasser. Addressing the meeting, Dr. Al-Jasser stressed the importance of the current stage of GCC joint actions which seeks to respond to a historic proposal of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at the 32nd session of the GCC Supreme Council in Riyadh last December aiming to transfer the Council from the stage of cooperation and coordination to the stage of Union. He explained that the responsibility of the Ministerial Committee has grown in accordance with the requirements of the targeted transformation from cooperation to the Union to achieve the aspirations of GCC leaders to strengthen GCC joint actions in the field of planning and development and to adopt a comprehensive development strategy.
