There may still be banned Nestle coffee containing glass pieces coming into the country and sold at some supermarkets, warned the Saudi Arabian Food and Drug Authority (SAFDA) Monday. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Mehazea, SAFDA's Deputy Executive President, has said that the potentially harmful Nescafe instant coffee products may now be coming into the Kingdom through agencies that are not linked to the manufacturer or its authorized agencies. He said the authority has informed all its branches at the Kingdom's checkpoints to take all the necessary measures not to allow the entry of these products onto the Kingdom's markets. In addition, the authority has informed the ministries of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Commerce and Industry to find out where these products are still being sold. Al-Mehazea warned that there is a possibility that these products are entering the country through third parties such as large superstores. These stores import their products from big branches in other countries. Al-Mehazea said Nestle announced on May 20 that it would withdraw a number of Nescafe products from the international market. It indicated that these products include only the 100 gram jars of Alta Rica, Alta Rica Decaff, Cap Colombie, Expresso and Suraya.
