JEDDAH — The Association of Tennis Clubs in Jeddah (ASTEC) starts its 28th team tennis event at the sprawling facilities of Trio-Ranch Country Club Friday. The event will last until Nov. 20. More than 50 teams from different tennis clubs in the Western Region will compete in the event, named the “7th Al Baik Team Tennis Tournament 2015”. The Men's Division will vie for championships in six categories - C, B2, B1-Mix, Lower Mix, Middle Mix and Higher Mix. Team composition will be 4-sets of 3 doubles and 1 single, playing pro-eight scoring format. The Ladies Division will battle it out in categories Lower Mix and Higher Mix plus the newly formed group – the Super Mix, and will have 3-sets of 3-doubles. The tournament will be governed by ASTEC Ground Rules, which have been distributed to all participating teams. The players' classification will be based on ASTEC's Tennis Players Classification List (TPCL) 2015. Opening Day ceremonies include a parade of the participating teams with raffle prizes from Racquet Shop and Al Baik, to be given to lucky spectators and participants and the announcement of the Best in Uniform for the different categories. Exhibition match in Class “A” players follows after the ceremonies. Organized and managed by ASTEC, under the helm of its Chairman Bernie Soguilon and Tournament Director Tonton Pana, this tournament is presented in partnership with Al Baik Food Systems Co. Ltd., represented by Bassam Al Seyofi (PR Manager), Ed Cabiedes (Branch Manager), and Mazza Farajallah (Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator). This event is also supported by Deltaz Marketing (Racquet Shop), Sky Freight Forwarders and Pepsi-Cola.
