JEDDAH — True to its commitment to the tennis community in the Western Region, Al Baik Food Systems Co. Ltd once again is partnering with Association of Tennis Clubs in Jeddah (ASTEC), to stage the year closing tennis tournament, dubbed as the 5th Al Baik Tennis Challenge 2013. The event will begin Friday with the opening ceremonies at the Al-Bilad Hotel. It is scheduled to run until Nov. 22. This is the 26th ASTEC tournament and the fifth associating with Al Baik. This year's event has attracted about 50 team entries in the men's division to vie for the championships in Categories C, B2, LMX, MMX and HMX. Team composition will be nine players each playing four doubles sets of pro-eight scoring format and with the ninth player being the non-playing reserve. The tournament will be governed by the ASTEC Ground Rules which will be distributed to all participating teams while the players' classification will be based on the ASTEC Tennis Players Classification List of 2013. Other matters, not covered by the Ground Rules, shall abide by the ITF Rules. Opening day ceremonies will include a parade of the participating teams with raffle prizes to be given to lucky spectators and participants. A bonus treat will be the doubles exhibition match to be played between the pair of Aris Feliciano and Dilson Autentico against the duo of Cecil Lllevares and Mohammad Salahuddin. Organized and managed by ASTEC, under the helm of its chairman Francis Idjao Jr. and Tournament Director Tonton Pana, this event to be played at the Al-Bilad Hotel and Sheraton Hotel tennis courts is presented in partnership with Al Baik Food Systems Co. Ltd., represented by Bassam Al-Seyofi (PR Manager), Mahmoud Al-Jaber (Marketing Coordinator) and Ed Cabiedes (Branch Manager).
