An exciting joint exhibition will be held at David Burley Gallery in Kent from October 19 to November 13, 2015. The work of Fiona Scott-Wilson and Penelope Timmis will be on show and available to purchase. Kent based Fiona Scott-Wilson studied as a graphic designer and has evolved as a versatile artist working in different styles from impressionist to realism. Experimenting with acrylics, oils, gouache and inks Fiona has more recently developed a new style with the medium of cut paper. “I try to capture a rich tapestry of vibrant colours to enhance and inspire moods, as well as embracing the beauty of nature, and the elements,” she says. “My love of travel led me to the mountains of Northern Italy where I spent five years on an artistic sabbatical painting Italian and French landscapes, ancient villages and living communities exploring the Mediterranean aesthetic in a mixture of representational styles and mediums.” It was when Fiona worked for a brand design agency on her return to London that she became inspired with a new way of working with multimedia and cut paper in a brightly coloured graphic style that reflects her love of oriental and art nouveau design. Shropshire based Penelope Timmis SWA, ARBSA, RSA is an elected Associate of the Royal Birmingham Society of the Arts and an Associate of the Society of Women Artists. A fellow of the Royal Society Arts (RSA) she supports Shelta Cymru and their art auctions and presented an exhibition for the Prince's Trust. She won best entry with the RBSA in 2009 and was shortlisted for the Daily Mail “Not the Turner” prize in 2004. Penelope exhibits throughout Wales and the west of England. She studied at the Froebel Institute in Roehampton and in Shrewsbury. After a break to bring up her family she returned to painting seriously about nine years ago. Since then, she has had various solo and joint exhibitions and has sold regularly. “Colour and movement are what I look for in all that I see around me and I hope are reflected in my paintings,” says Penelope. The joint Creative Coverage exhibition takes place at David Burley Gallery, Birchington Library, Birchington-on-Sea, Kent CT7 9EG from October 19 to November 13, 2015.
