JEDDAH — The Ara Gallery — a ‘concept' art gallery located in Downtown Dubai — opened their autumn 2012 art season with a group exhibition dubbed “Taqaseem”, featuring painters from around the Arab world. The Arabic word “Taqaseem” means “division, or segmentation, or section”, and with this exhibition The Ara Gallery unveiled a carefully selected trio of Arab painters from within the wide and varied world of fine art. These artists presented works from their own unique stylistic vision that comes from within a medium-specific segment of the arts world that harbors an array of creative diversity. One such exhibiting artist at the gallery is Egyptian illustrator Mohamed Elmoslemany. Born in 1973 Egypt, Elmoslemany studied at the faculty of art and became an assistant professor at the department of decorative designs at Helwan University. Later, he went on to pursue philosophy of artistic education. Elmoslemany said there had been many influences in his life, particularly the nature of Egypt's country side, and the social context of rural societies which are full of influences that enrich the visual expression in his works and in dramatic compositions where he uses water colors, ink, pencils, among others. Apart from being a member at the faculty of artistic education, Elmoslemany was also a member of the syndicate of plastic artists, the guild of graduates from artistic education, and the society of drawing professors. Elmoslemany uses oil and acrylic colors with a variety of materials to deduce the compound forms used in watercolors to treat the different expressions of Egyptian faces. His simplistic style in portraits convey many meanings and glimmer colorful compositions, which are distinguished with color resolutions that express the various faces of Egypt. Through visual plastic sentence about the contents of Egyptian reality, which is depicted through the long human history, his paintings distinguish civilization in the ancient world's villages, streets and tows. The gallery is dedicated to emerging artists from around the Arab world.
