MINA — Minister of Culture and Information Adel Al-Turaifi on Wednesday evening launched a special Haj TV channel and a radio station in Persian and said the transmission and the broadcast will reach about 130 million people around the world. The channel and the station will air and broadcast live the Haj rituals and the movements of pilgrims in Makkah, Madinah and other holy sites. "This media tool is aimed at projecting the eternal message of Haj and the great concepts of Islam," he said. The minister said the channel and the radio are targeting the Persian-speakers all over the world and will transmit and broadcast 24 hours a day. He said the radio will transmit on the FM waves in Makkah and the holy sites while it will use short waves for the rest of the world. The minister said the TV transmission will be on four satellites — Arabsat, Nilesat, Yahsat and Hot Bird. Al-Turaifi said the TV channel and the radio station will have a team of 80 journalists and producers.
