MAKKAH — The Ministry of Health is all geared up to provide world-class medical services to the millions of pilgrims performing Haj this year. Hospitals and centers run by the ministry in Makkah and other holy sites are extending qualitative treatment and preventive healthcare services. The ministry has readied nine hospitals with a total of 1,316 beds including 212 for intensive care and 145 for emergency care in the service of pilgrims. They are equipped with advanced medical devices and manned by highly experienced doctors, nurses and paramedics. In addition, there are 78 health centers in Mina and 16 on the Jamrat bridge to deal with various diseases and health conditions of the guests of God during the peak Haj days. The hospital network is supported by an ambulance system with 155 vehicles having modern medical facilities. Among them 100 ambulances are small while 55 are big with mobile intensive care units. They are manned by highly experienced staff members. The 190-bed Mina General Hospital is considered one of the leading health facilities in the holy sites. It has specialty clinics for cardiology, ENT and orthopedics in addition to a well-equipped intensive care unit, laboratory and X-ray department. Its emergency ward is located on the ground floor. The hospital has allocated 24 beds for diagnosis, cardiology observation and sunstroke cases. There are 42 beds in the first floor including 28 for intensive care and two for maternity, three for endoscopy and surgery and one for resuscitation. The second floor with 90 beds has been set aside for in-patients. It has a total of 630 staff members including consultants, doctors, nurses and administrative workers. The hospital offers world-class health services to pilgrims round-the-clock. The Mina Jisr Hospital, which has 150 beds, is manned by 400 employees. It has allocated 36 beds for intensive care, 27 for emergency, 16 for sunstroke cases, and three for isolation of patients suffering from infectious and unknown diseases. It has three dialysis units and an artificial respiratory system. The New Street Hospital in Mina has 14 beds for intensive care, 13 for emergency, 34 beds for hospitalized patients and 13 for outpatient clinics. It has four dialysis units and 350 workers including doctors, nurses and paramedics. Other hospitals that provide advanced health services to pilgrims during the Haj season include the 160-bed Mina Al-Wadi Hospital, which has 22 beds for intensive cardiac care, the 236-bed East Arafat Hospital, which has 23 beds for sunstroke patients, Jabal Al-Rahma Hospital in Arafat and the 300-bed Arafat General Hospital, which has allocated five big rooms to treat patients suffering from contagious and chronic diseases. The Namira Hospital in Arafat has 90 beds — 12 of them for intensive care, six for cardiac care and six to deal with emergency cases.
