Lindor makes Indians' day

NEW YORK — Francisco Lindor had three hits and four RBIs, while Danny Salazar pitched seven strong innings as the Cleveland Indians beat the Kansas City Royals 5-1 in their American League match Wednesday.
Lindor hit a solo home run, his ninth of the season, in the first inning, had a two-run single in the second and an RBI single in the fourth inning.
Salazar (13-8) pitched six scoreless innings before giving up a solo home run to third baseman Mike Moustakas leading off the seventh. He gave up four hits, with six strikeouts and two walks.
Red Sox 10, Orioles 1
Dustin Pedroia homered twice and drove in five runs as the Boston Red Sox scored nine early runs and rolled to a 10-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
Pedroia hit a two-run homer in the third and added a three-run shot in the fourth as the Red Sox scored five to go up 9-0.
Boston's designated hitter David Ortiz hit his 501st career homer with a solo shot in the second.
Yankees 3, Rays 1
First baseman Greg Bird had a double and a home run to lead the New York Yankees to a 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Bird's home run off Rays reliever Andrew Bellatti gave the Yankees a 3-1 lead in the top of the ninth.
Yankees pitcher Luis Severino (4-3) struck out seven over 5-2/3 innings to get the win. Andrew Miller struck out the side in the ninth for his 34th save.
In other games it was: Rangers 14, Astros 3; White Sox 9, A's 4; Mariners 3, Angels 1; Tigers 7, Twins 4 (12 innings).
National League Marlins 6, Mets 0
Rookie left-hander Adam Conley allowed three hits over seven shutout innings while the Miami Marlins hit three solo homers in a 6-0 win over the New York Mets.
Third baseman Martin Prado, catcher J.T. Realmuto and first baseman Justin Bour all homered for the Marlins.
The Mets' lead over Washington in the National League East fell to 7-1/2 games by virtue of the Nationals' win over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Nationals 12, Phillies 2
Jayson Werth homered twice, Bryce Harper hit his 40th home run of the season while Gio Gonzalez matched a career high with 12 strikeouts as the Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 12-2.
Harper's two-run blast in the seventh gave the 22-year-old the National League home run lead over Colorado's Nolan Arenado.
Cardinals 5, Brewers 4
Rookie outfielder Tommy Pham hit two home runs to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 5-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Pham finished with three hits and just missed a third home run in the eighth, flying out to center fielder Logan Schafer, just a few feet from the wall.
Elsewhere it was: Cubs 3, Pirates 2 (12 innings); Dodgers 2, Rockies 0; Padres 4, Diamondbacks 3; Giants 5, Reds 3.
Inter-League Blue Jays 9, Braves 1
Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion was 3-for-3 with two walks while David Price improved to 7-1 since his trade from Detroit to Toronto.
Catcher Russell Martin hit his 20th homer of the season with a runner on in the ninth inning to finish with four RBIs as the Blue Jays (83-62) maintained their three-game lead over the New York Yankees in the American League East.
Price, who is 16-5 with a 2.42 ERA overall, struck out nine over seven innings and the only run he gave up came in the first. He allowed six hits and walked three. — Reuters
