RIYADH — The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) inspected 2,266 food establishments in Makkah and Madinah during the past 27 days and recorded 3,052 health and technical violations, Makkah daily reported. SFDA reported on its website the food establishments inspected varied from bakeries, to butcheries, to grocery stores to restaurants. The authority seized and disposed of a total of 5,395 kilograms of food products unfit for consumption. The authority inspected 1,167 food establishments in Makkah and recorded 1,935 violations. A total of 4,883 kilograms of food products were seized and four establishments closed down. The authority also inspected 1,099 food establishments in Madinah. A total of 1,117 violations were recorded. The authority also seized 512 kilograms of solid food and 420 liters of liquids.
