The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) is finalizing new regulations regarding products that come under its purview like foodstuff, health products and equipment, cosmetics and fodder. This was stated by an SFDA official Sunday. He said that the authority carried out inspections of stores to analyze the quality of the products being sold. The SFDA announced three violations by three companies – two potable water companies and one baby food company – within the last 10 days. Responding to a question about the intention of some companies to sue the SFDA for defamation that caused financial losses, he said “people's health is of paramount importance and we have no other considerations.” Announcement of the violations, he said, is in the interest of the people. He added the SFDA was ready to face any legal action since it possesses tangible evidence against erring establishments.
