QASSIM — A total of 441 illegal expatriates were arrested on Sunday in different raids in Qassim, Dammam and Al-Khobar. The police netted 87 expatriates during an unannounced inspection campaign in Qassim.Officers also issued 20 traffic violations and arrested a number of individuals for possession of alcohol, weapons and an unspecified amount of untraceable cash. In Dammam, 14 illegal expatriates were arrested during an inspection campaign. Eastern Province Labor Office director, Omar Al-Amri, said the campaign was run in cooperation with the police department in various governorates. The expatriates were found at four different construction sites, and police issued 186 labor law violation notices. In Al-Khobar, 340 illegal expatriates were arrested. Eastern Province Police spokesman, Col. Ziyad Al-Raqiti, said the police had received reports of suspicious work in various areas of the governorates. During the inspection campaign, officers surrounded the reported areas and blocked all entrance and exit points in order to arrest as many illegal expatriates as possible. — SG
