The Al-Umrah branch municipality in Makkah has closed down two well-known restaurants in the city and strongly warned nine others for violating various health regulations. The action came as part of the municipality's drive to ensure that the residents, pilgrims and visitors are served with hygienic food. Municipality Chairman Luai Bin Jamal Ashour said more than a 1,000 kg of rotten food items were confiscated during several raids.
