JEDDAH — Saudi Cricket Center (SCC) accorded a warm sendoff to its Under-19 team which will take part in the ACC Under-19 Premier League Cup in Malaysia. The championship will be organized by the Malaysian Cricket Board under the auspices of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) at Klang Valley from Aug. 26 to Sept. 4. The other participating teams are Malaysia, Afghanistan, the UAE, Nepal and Kuwait. The team was announced by SCC Chief Executive Officer Nadeem Nadwi. The 14-member team will be led by Faisal Khan. Akram Qureshi from Yanbu Cricket Association (YACA) will accompany the team as manager. Rahat Chaudhury is the team coordinator and Nadeem Sa'ad coach. The team was finalized after a long selection process, which was supervised by SCC officials. Before two months, a selection camp was organized by SCC with the assistance YACA in Yanbu. In accordance with the ICC eligibility criteria and age cut-off date, total 40 boys took part in the camp. Nadeem Sa'ad assisted by a team of senior players — Sarfaraz Ahmed, Mazhar Abbasi, Abdul Waheed and Kamran Hadi — a 5-day fitness camp was conducted in Yanbu where 21 boys were short-listed. Some of the selected boys attended training in academies in Pakistan and India. Later after a fitness camp in Jeddah under the direct supervision of coach Nadeem Sa'ad, the final 14 were selected. The team: Faisal Khan (captain), Mohammed Farhan Patel (vice captain), Muhammad Mudassar, Mirza Ibrahim Baig, Omar Imtiaz, Adnan Anwar, Sameeh Munshi, Furkhar Irshad, Saud Khan, Arsalan Ameen, Shorif Mahmud, Saud Iqbal Ahmed, Zayed Khan Afridi and Zain.
