Sayed Ziauddin JEDDAH — Nestle Milo had the better of Fuchs Alhamrani, APF edged past Crown Blue, Zultrack won against Elaf Advance and MCH Green defeated Hala Academy Blue in the quarterfinals of the Modern Pioneer Afternoon Summer Tournament, organized by WPCA and sponsored by Modern Pioneer Company. In the first quarterfinal, Nestle Milo defeated Fuchs Alhamrani by 6 wickets. Fuchs opted to bat first and produced 194 for 7. Abdul Gafoor hit 49 in 23 balls, Nasir Khan compiled 45, while Mohsin and Mansoor scored 17 each. Abdullah Zahid took 3-31 and Irfan 2-27. Nestle Milo got to 195 for 4 with 9 balls to spare as skipper Abdullah Zahid hammered an unbeaten 91 in 46 balls with 6 sixes and 7 fours. Azeem blasted 37 and Ali Nawaz 30. Nasir Khan took 2-18 and Mohsin 2-34. In the second quarterfinal, MCH Green defeated Hala Academy Blue by 49 runs. MCH Green racked up 213 for 4. Nadeem belted 97 in 62 balls with 6 sixes and 10 fours and Ameer Wahla hit 49. The duo added 103 in 52 balls for the opening wicket. Later, Amir and Yasir made 21 each. In reply, Hala Academy Blue could manage only 164. Bilawal and Amjad hit identical 28, while Ramazan made 32. Masood scalped 4-41, Javed 2-19 and Umair 2-27. In the third quarterfinal, Crown Blue went down to APF by 4 wickets. Crown Blue tallied 193 for 7. Saqib Butt scored 44 in 22 balls and Anwar Chandi 28. Crown Blue lost the next 5 wickets for the addition of just 23 runs and was tottering at 109 for 5. However, Saleem Meher thrashed an unbeaten 72 in 42 balls to get to a competitive total. Faisal took 3-34, Rizwan 2-23 and Asim 2-31. In reply, APF won the match making 196 for the loss of 6 wickets with 2 balls to spare. Jane hit 57 in 26 balls and Javed compiled 67 in 48 balls. The two added 94 in 52 balls for the first wicket. Usman Niazi made 27. In the last quarterfinal, Zultrack won against Elaf Advance by 28 runs. Zultrack piled up 179 for 8 through Omar Mukhtar (24), Rashid (43) and Khadim (37 not out). Azeem scalped 2-21 and Waqas 2-29. Elaf Advance, while chasing, was bundled out for 151. Gulzar made 24, Ehteshaam 32, Azeem 22 and Nabeel 18. The main wicket-taker was Subaiyyal Mughal (4-27). Qayam Khan claimed 3-21 and Usman Gulab 2-21.
