MAKKAH — Umm Al-Qura University is conducting a study on an enhanced translation program for pilgrims at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, as the current translation service needs development.
The dean of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Research Institute at Umm Al-Qura, Atif Asghar, said the institute has always tried to find ways to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of worshippers in the two holy mosques.
“Translation is an essential service offered to pilgrims by the General Presidency of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques,” said Asghar. “Our research will focus on the translation service during Ramadan and Haj seasons. The current translation service is functioning well but needs some development and enhancement.”
He said the general presidency already offers translations in several languages.
“The translation service is offered in the general presidency's guidance service, Friday sermons, and common supplications,” said Asghar. “The institute's study will offer a developmental and strategic plan for translation for Haj and Umrah seasons.”
He said the institute is carrying out the study in partnership with several executive bodies so they can expand the translation services offered.
“Our aim is to have the services given to pilgrims available and accessible to all pilgrims,” he said.
