JEDDAH — The Modern Pioneer Summer Cup, organized by WPCA, is set for the knockout stage at all the three level (Premier, Afternoon and Morning) tournaments here. ALJ Toyota, New Young Star and Rehab Riders won their respective matches. With that Emper Perfumes, Mercedes Benz, Harsco Baroom, Al-Mazroi-XI, Al-Saudi-XI, Tata Motors, ALJ Toyota and Ralco in the Morning Tournament, and Nestle Milo, Hala Academy Blue, Crown Blue, Elaf Advance, Zultrack, APF, MCH Green and Fuchs Alhamrani in the Afternoon Tournament have all qualified for the quarterfinals. In the Modern Pioneer Summer Premier Tournament My Care Hala will take on IDB while Crown Steel will face AOT in the semifinals. The Summer Tournaments are sponsored by Modern Pioneer Company. Gujarat Eagles posted 129 for 5 as Sajid made 36 in 26 balls with 3 fours, Mohammed Arshad 21 and Mukhtar Ahmed 15. New Young Stars, in reply, achieved 130 for 5 in just 89 balls. Bilal hit 43, Nazeer 31 and Abdullah remained unbeaten on 26. Aadal and Mukhtar claimed 2 wickets each. ALJ Toyota batted first and racked up 216 for 5 against Sadafco after a bad start. Imran Rana made 73 and Farhan 93. Sadafco, in reply, was stranded at 200 for 6. The semifinals of all three Divisions will be played on Aug. 14 and finals on Aug. 21. WPCA draws for the new season of 2015-16 took place last week at a local Restaurant. In all 60 teams have registered for the new season with 8 in the Premier Division, 28 in the Morning Level II and 22 in the Afternoon Level I. Apart from the existing teams there were four new clubs — INMA Cricket Club, MFCC, Jeddah Tigers and Digital Technology-AOT. The new season tournaments in the T20 format will begin on Aug. 14.
