BAGHDAD — Hamid Ahmed, the lawyer representing Saudi prisoners in Iraq, has disclosed that a request has been sent by the Iraqi minister of justice to Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi to transfer all Saudi inmates in Al-Nasiriyah prison and other Iraqi prisons to a prison in Baghdad green zone. The request covers a total of 60 Saudi prisoners. Three Saudi inmates are expected to be transferred from Al-Nasiriyah prison to Baghdad in three weeks for good conduct. Two other Saudi inmates will be tried in an Iraqi court in the coming few weeks on terrorism related charges. If convicted, at least one of them faces the death penalty.
