Khalid Aal-Meraih Okaz / Saudi Gazette ABHA The father of a Saudi who was sentenced to death in Iraq two weeks ago has said his son's trial by an Iraqi court was unfair. Hasan Al-Shehry told reporters that his son, Ali, who was held inside Al-Rasafat prison, has been transferred to Al-Nasiriyah prison, where Saudi prisoners had staged a weekslong hunger strike with no avail demanding their transfer to a Sousa prison. Al-Shehry said that his son's lawyers, who were appointed by the Saudi Embassy, appealed the charges against him, and submitted documents proving that Ali was subjected to torture. "My son's trial was unfair and unjust. Ali's lawyer has requested for a copy of the alleged confessions he had made," he said, insisting that his son did not confess to any crimes. He said he has been communicating with the assistant of the Saudi lawyer, Abdulrahman Al-Jeraisy, concerning the case.
