With regard to the article "Technology to send fraudulent pilgrim firms into oblivion" (Aug. 2), these high prices for performing Haj and Umrah should be investigated. Travel agents make it almost impossible for most Muslims to perform their religious duties, especially Muslims in South Africa. The Haj and Umrah Council there and numerous travel agents are aware of this and thus take advantage of the desire of pilgrims to come to Saudi Arabia. There is a five-year waiting period to get accredited to perform Haj and the costs keep rising every year. It is truly a sad state of affairs when some Muslims take advantage of others.
