The report “‘Decision to cut number of pilgrims legitimate'” (June 27) makes it clear that the Supreme Judicial Council has authorized reducing the number of pilgrims while construction work is underway to expand the area available for worshippers. There is a concern about the safety of pilgrims while this work is going on. It seems to me that another solution is that Haj and Umrah should be stopped for pilgrims from overseas for two years until the ongoing work at the holy sites has been completed. During this time local pilgrims would be able to perform Haj and Umrah. Also a stop should be put to the activity of bogus travel agents and tour operators who are operating in many countries and who are the cause of many difficulties which pilgrims experience.
