RIYADH — The ministries of education and labor have jointly launched a program to boost education and provide job opportunities for the Saudi graduates in the private sector. Titled Education and Employment, the program is aimed at tailoring the syllabuses of education and training to the actual needs and requirements of the private sector for the qualified manpower. In a joint press statement released after the launch last Tuesday, Minister of Education Minister Azzam Al-Dakhil and Minister of Labor Mufrej Al-Haqbani focused on improving the quality of education and training to cater to the needs of the labor market. "The students and the graduates will have to be practically prepared for the labor market within the comprehensive development going on all over the Kingdom," the two ministries said. The launch was attended by the rectors of 28 universities, Governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) Nasser Al-Ghifais, Director of the Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf) Ibrahim Al-Muaiqil and a number of senior officials from the two ministries. Under the program, the content and input of education and training will be linked to the actual needs of the labor market and the graduates will be secured productive and stable jobs in the private sector. Meanwhile, Al-Dakhil issued a decision to assign special classrooms for gifted students in a number of public schools starting next academic year. He said the ministry, in cooperation with the education departments in various regions, will identify the schools that will host special classrooms.
