RIYADH — The Ministry of Commerce and Industry will sponsor 1,000 scholarship students as part of the third phase of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program that will start June 27. Under an agreement signed in Riyadh on Sunday, the ministry will ensure the students with jobs suitable to their specializations after graduation. Education Minister Azzam Al-Dakhil and Commerce Minister Tawfiq Al-Rabiah signed the agreement. When they return home, the graduates will be employed in various commercial sectors and also be used to run the commercial cities. Al-Dakhil thanked the commerce minister for his positive response to the third phase of the program, titled “Your Job and Your Scholarship”. He also praised all ministries and government departments that have joined the program as partners. Al-Dakhil said the partners would not only choose the specializations and the universities but also select the candidates and supervise their studies while maintaining a strong commitment to employ them after graduation. He said the program is based on a partnership through which the job sectors in which the student will be employed will be decided before he or she goes out for higher studies. “We have adopted this style because it caters to the actual needs of the labor market and at the same time assures the students of their future because jobs will be waiting for them,” he said. Al-Rabiah praised the program's new method of selection because it will tie scholarships to the actual needs of the ministries and government departments for qualified cadres. He said under the agreement, the students his ministry will sponsor will study various engineering specialties.
