JEDDAH — Police have found a 12-year-old girl after she had vanished from an ice cream shop at one of the malls in south Jeddah after midnight Sunday. Makkah Police spokesman Col. Ati Al-Qurashi said the girl, Haneen, was taken to hospital for medical checkups to make sure she was not injured or violated in any way. “The girl seemed healthy and well. The hospital reports showed she had not been injured in any way. Police had analyzed surveillance tapes of the mall and combed nearby areas. She was found in one of the neighboring districts. It turned out that the girl was never kidnapped, she only got lost,” said Al-Qurashi. The girl's father, Abdulaziz, said he and his family came from Madinah and were visiting the city for recreation. “I was in the mall with my family taking dinner at 11:45 p.m. My daughter went to an ice cream shop but did not return. After more than an hour we started searching for her all over the mall, but our efforts were in vain,” Abdulaziz said. After the mall security was unable to find his daughter, Abdulaziz reported her disappearance to Al-Salama police station.
