JEDDAH – Police are investigating the disappearance of a 12-year-old girl who vanished from an ice cream shop at one of the malls in north Jeddah after midnight Sunday. The girl came with her family from Madinah and they were visiting the city for recreation. “I was in the mall with my family taking dinner at11:45 p.m. My daughter went to an ice cream shop but did not return. After more than an hour we started searching for her all over the mall, but our efforts were in vain,” the girl's father, Abdulaziz, said. After the mall security was unable to find his daughter, Abdulaziz reported her disappearance to Al-Salama police station. “They requested for my daughter's photo. I brought a picture the next morning. Undercover agents were deployed to investigate and look for her.” Police obtained copies of the mall's surveillance tapes, which showed the girl at the ice cream shop, but the cameras stopped recording soon after as they are programed to shut down at midnight and start recording again the next morning. Abdulaziz said his daughter does not have a cell phone and does not know anyone in Jeddah. He believed his daughter had been kidnapped and prayed for security authorities finding her.
